Chin Lee
Dealing With IOOF

Introducing…

Chin Lee, Business Support Officer

1 What do you and your team do at IOOF?

We are the Sales team so the main thing we do is to build new and maintain current relationships with advisers. We do this not alone but with the help of many departments and many people in IOOF especially the admin team and the fulfilment centre.

As for me, I am the support officer for the team. I help organise seminars/conferences, assist our BDMs source solutions from various departments to address adviser queries and anything that I could do to help the team achieve our goals.

We also have fun along the way.

2 When and why did you join IOOF?

I joined IOOF on 1 March 2010 because word on the streets is that it’s a great company to work for - with a culture where the job gets done and the employees well looked after...And I have not been disappointed.

3 What was your first job?

I worked in a Japanese restaurant as the bartender/cashier. Free food and sake. Great times indeed!

4 What is the strangest thing that’s happened to you at work?

Fortunately or unfortunately, I have not encountered anything too strange in my working life yet.

5 Tell us one fact your colleagues might be surprised to learn

I used to swim competitively until my body shape changed to a less aerodynamic shape. Although I do float better now!

6 Craziest thing I've done…

Jumped from a waterfall about three storeys high into a pool that’s about a metre and a half deep.

7 Something I’d like to learn is…

To play the ukulele!

8 What is your favourite sports team?

The Mighty Saints!

9 What is your favourite TV show?

24, Bones, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, Masterchef, Top Gear.

10 If I didn't live in Melbourne…

I would probably be back in my home town, Ipoh, in Malaysia. Eating my favourite Indian curry served on a banana leaf with my hands. Driving off to the middle of nowhere to my favourite restaurant that serves up freshwater prawns the length of my arm and fish freshly caught from the stream at the back of the restaurant. Looking forward to each durian (tropical fruit) season. Performing in and organising musicals for the local social arts society.
