There is increasing evidence that financial planners in Australia are adopting Exchanged Traded Funds (ETFs) as a core part of their clients’ investment portfolios. This trend follows similar moves in the US in recent years with advisers looking to invest in a sectoral or more general index as a part of an overall investment strategy. ETFs are open-ended funds that trade like a listed share on major stock exchanges across the world. Their objective is to reflect the performance of a chosen index by holding a basket of securities that enables access to both domestic and international profiles.
IOOF is capitalising on the success of the addition of Direct Shares with individual HINs on super, pension and investment products in Pursuit Select by adding a wide variety of ETFs to the investment menu. We have chosen to add both BlackRock iShares and State Street SPDRs. These additions will allow investors access to the Australian top 50, 200 and listed property as well as Global 100, Asia 50 and Emerging Markets strategies.
The ETFs are available now on all Pursuit Select products and can be accessed through the Direct Shares order pad via Portfolio Online for registered Direct Share participants. While we have started with a wide range of strategies, we will continue to review the inclusion of any additional ETFs.
