New Pursuit sponsorship

An IOOF announcement

IOOF’s marketing team is pleased to announce the recently secured 12-month sponsorship of elite Australian triathlete, James Seear.

The sponsorship will leverage IOOF’s flagship platform product Pursuit and see James sporting the Pursuit brand’s visual identity within weeks – hopefully in time for the Australian ITU World Championship Series events.

Beyond our financial support and basic branding of James’ uniform and other racing gear, there are plans to invite James as a guest speaker at future IOOF adviser events.

It’s important to highlight how beneficial IOOF’s financial support will be as far as helping James meet his race commitments during the 2009/10 financial year. The sheer expense incurred as a triathlete is phenomenal – particularly at an elite level. Non-sponsored individuals, and those not lucky enough to be affiliated with an Institute of Sport, are required to cover their travel and accommodation, fund coaches and medical treatment and maintain race equipment, not to mention other incidental costs.

Considering the lack of sponsor’s supporting individual triathletes, we are very proud to be involved with James’ career and wish him the very best of luck for the next year.

James Seear – ready to take on the world

Born in South Africa, James has also lived in the United States of America, before moving to Australia 12 years ago. Describing himself as ‘a determined and talented athlete ready to tackle the world’s best head on’, James has grand plans of representing our great nation at the 2012 Olympics in London in the sport of triathlon. Not such a far-fetched idea when you consider that James already has 4 International Podiums, 12 National medals with 3 national titles to his name.

Training in an environment of internationally successful athletes and coaches, and having a supportive family based in Brisbane, James has every opportunity to become one of the most notable Australian triathletes of his era. Under the close guidance of world-renowned coach, Shaun Stephens, 22 year-old James has been steadily building his training regime which has recently included a short stint on the European summer circuit.

After competing in various events during mid-2009, which were all part of the ITU World Championship Series, James has finished his final season in the World U/23 competition ranked No. 1. What a great result!

James will go into the Gold Coast ITU World Championship Series event on 11 September ranked 26th overall in the Elite Men’s category. This ranking also positions him as the fourth- highest placed Australian in the World Series.
