1 What do you and your team do at IOOF?
I am responsible for the technical services available to advisers and our internal stakeholders. My team has recently had a bit of a face lift with our new team brand ‘TechConnect’ and the addition of our forth member of the team – Damian Hearn who is based in Sydney.
2 When and why did you join IOOF?
I joined IOOF nearly five years ago from AXA where I was the Technical Services Manager. What attracted me to IOOF was the opportunity to establish and manage a whole new service offering supporting the sales team, and also to have the opportunity to be more involved in the business direction regarding advice and services offered to advisers. IOOF has always been a company that promotes passionate employees and career opportunities.
3 What was your first job?
I travelled after University and worked in Amsterdam for a few months renovating and demolishing food shops…for those that don’t know I have two left hands and never been good with labour jobs so that was a challenge! Fortunately I have since had to learn since getting married and having my two boys.
4 What is the strangest thing that’s happened to you at work?
I would have said the funniest thing is meeting my beautiful wife at work whilst all along she was living around the corner from me and we had spent months catching the same train each day.
5 Tell us one fact your colleagues might be surprised to learn
I love getting on my motorbike on the open road on a beautiful summers day.
6 Craziest thing I've done…
Skydiving
7 Something I’d like to learn is…
I have always wanted to learn a musical instrument e.g. guitar - but now I can live through my boys!
8 What is your favourite sports team?
Aussie Cricket
9 What is your favourite TV show?
The Simpsons and Seinfield
10 If I didn't live in Melbourne…
I would love to live in the Big Apple – the city that never sleeps.
