Earlier this year, we embarked on an initiative to create sector specialists for IOOF sector funds. This process continues with the appointment of David Kilmer to the position of Portfolio Manager for International Equities. In this role, David will be responsible for managing the international equities component of IOOF’s multi-manager funds.
Prior to taking on the new Portfolio Manager role in August, David was Head of Retail Research for IOOF. The appointment of David follows the appointment of Dan Farmer as head of Australian equities in February 2010.
International equities, along with Australian equities, are critical asset classes for the performance of IOOF’s diversified funds and as single asset classes themselves. I am very pleased to have two high calibre individuals in David and Dan filling these roles.
In addition, Stanley (Stan) Yeo has also recently been appointed to the newly created role of Portfolio Manager Asset Allocation and Implementation. This is an important area of potential value-add for the diversified funds and Stan will work closely with me in implementing improvements in this area.
Stan has over eight years experience with Russell Investments as a Senior Consultant advising large funds such as BHP, Funds SA and the Government Pension Fund of Thailand.
It is expected that this move from a generalist to a specialist portfolio manager approach will lead to greater accountability, alignment of interests and additional benefit to IOOF clients.
Kind regards,
Stephen Merlicek
