1 What is your role at IOOF?
I am a Claims Administrator with the Claims Team at IOOF.
2) Why did you join the company?
I joined IOOF in late December 2003 on a contract basis before being made permanent in May 2004. The most appealing aspect of IOOF at the time of joining was that it was a company that was changing and growing – as it is today.
3) What is the worst/first job you ever had?
My worst (and first) job was working at Prahran Market as a 15 year old schoolboy on a part time basis on school holidays. I would work a 12 hour shift at the rate of $1 an hour!
4) Tell us about a photo or a piece of junk on your desk? What is it and why is it there?
I have a photo of my three children on my desk together with two horse caricatures as I am an avid horse racing follower (not very good though).
5) What did you want to be at age five?
At five I wanted to be a train driver…I was fascinated with trains, especially their size and speed…these days I’m fascinated if they turn up on time!
6) Tell us one hidden fact you think your colleagues would be surprised to learn…
A hidden fact is that, although I was raised as an only child, at 31 years of age I learned that I was adopted…and that I’m the eldest of six siblings. No, you will never see me on ‘Find My Family’ because I am very happy with the one I have.
7) How would you describe yourself in three words?
I am loud, happy and energetic.
8) What is your favourite sports team, band/singer and movie?
I’d go for Essendon Football Club, AC/DC as my band, and The Wedding Singer as my movie.
9) What is your favourite place in Melbourne?
I like just about everything about Melbourne…from the MCG to Flemington Racecourse to a squillion good restaurants we can sample at anytime.
10) What is your favourite quote?
A Mark Twain quote which has always been true to my heart is: “Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great”.
